The Governing Body of Whale Primary School is planning to convert to an academy, as part of Steel River Academy Trust, on 1st September 2019.
We have received approval from the Department for Education to do so.
What is a MAT?
This is where a group of schools/academies join together and form a single company, with a single board of trustees who are responsible for running the trust. All schools will retain a local governing body and much of its independence.
All schools will protect their individual character and ethos.
The four schools have worked together extensively over the last 2 years, and the Governing Body feels that this would be strengthened further through the formation of a MAT. The Governing Body would like to take this opportunity to thank the Aspire Learning Partnership for the collaborative work since 2014.
Should this School become an Academy?
The governors would now like to consult with parents and carers again, and the consultation period will run from Friday 5th April to Friday 6th May 2019. If you would like to make a comment on this proposal, please either complete the form below and return it to school or email email@example.com.
Although the formal consultation period will run between the above dates, you can still comment on the school’s proposals up to the 1st September 2019.
Frequently asked questions about schools converting to an academy can be found on the school’s website.
